Well, what else is there to do on a freezing cold Sunday afternoon in January other than join Jonathan Brickell on The Piston Broke Show?
Today Omnium welcomed a Jaguar and radio connoisseur, Mr Patch Jobson.
Jonathan met Patch back in 2021 after joining the Jaguar Enthusiasts Devon Region club and attended their Jaguar Day at Torre Abbey in Torquay. Patch welcomed Jonathan and I with open arms into the helm.
Patch was involved with the JEC for a total of 8 years, from member to chair and made the club what it is today. He has since stepped down to concentrate on the XJ40 community and radio which has actually always been his first love.
Patch begins his day at 6am as a breakfast radio host for Tone FM. He then heads to his day job as Accounts Manager for another radio station, Radio Exe. Radio Exe are one of the only independent local commercial radio stations left in the UK. Patch is a much valued and loved station director volunteer at Tone FM and has been for the past 15 months. He is also a director for their parent organisation, The Tone Community Media Group CIC. it is absolutely fascinating chatting to him, from his extensive knowledge of all things Jaguar to his stories that you would not believe if you didn't know him.
Patch has been a petrolhead since the age of about 3 when he could name and recite all manner of cars to his parents. He had a vast collection of toy and model cars which he still has today.
The 1st car that graced his presence was a Rover 214GSi. From there on he owned a classic Range Rover, Land Rover Discoveries (one of which he would happily buy back), 3 Toyota SUV's, a BMW 316, Volvo 850 and a Mistubishi Shogun amongst others. And of course, his Jaguars. In his current collection resides a Jaguar X356 TDVi which was a specially specced Government car, a 3.5litre X350 and his baby, an XJ40 called Bertie. Bertie is currently being recommissioned. Patch actually spotted this car stuffed under a hedge! He offered to buy it (along with cutting the hedge) and the rest, they say, is history. I have seen this car and it truly is and will be, stunning when back on the road. I am only slightly jealous....
Having Patch on The Piston Broke Show today was an absolute delight. He is an absolutely charming gentleman and the show was fantastic. He has generously invited the Directors of Omnium along with Jonathan, to visit him at Radio exe and Tone Fm. He will also join us at Omnium again in the near future.
Thank you Patch!
Jonathan presents The Piston Broke Show every other Sunday from 3-5pm. If you are a petrolhead and have any questions, requests or would like to join him one Sunday, do get in touch! The show is always motoring orientated with news, shed of the week, buying guides and much more along with some decent driving tunes thrown in for good measure.
